RENew Northfield will sponsor Northfield’s first-ever “B-BOP” (Bike, Bus or Car Pool) Day as part of the statewide Commuter Challenge Week on May 20, 2005. Petroleum (none of it produced in Minnesota, obviously!) accounts for about 40% of all energy consumption in the U.S., and over 2/3 of that petroleum is consumed in the transportation sector. Transportation-related measures to reduce petroleum dependency are thus crucial if we are to move toward energy self-sufficiency.
