Monthly RENew Northfield Energizing Conversation and Happy Hour Salon

Posted by Bruce Anderson, March 6th , 2006

At last month’s premiere of the RENew Northfield Energizing Conversation and Happy Hour Salon we had a great time, made some new friends, sampled some fine wine, cheese, fruit and chocolate, and shared good conversation. Come next Wednesday, March 15, for more of the same.
You won’t regret it if you do–you know you need to spark your social life, and these are innaresting people and innaresting issues

Peak oil, as seen by R. Crumb

Peak oil
(peak oil; the connection between oil addiction, foreign policy and war; making Northfield pedestrian/bicycle-friendly; community energy self-sufficiency as a central political and economic organizing principle; creation of a new local municipal electric utility; investment in local wind projects; solar bulk buy; biodiesel buyers’ club, etc.) we’re talkin’ about!

Please note that this is a date change from the usual second Wednesday of the month (to accomodate the schedule of yours truly, who will be in beautiful semi-tropical Des Moine for the Windustry 2006 Community Wind Conference, expecting to learn, network, and seal the deal on a local multi-turbine wind project–I wish I could tell you more, but should be able to soon…). In addition, we’ve changed the time: we’ll get together from 6:30 to 7:30 to make it easier for folks to join us after work.

Please join us if you are able at the luxurious conference room we share with our second-floor mates at 402 Washington St., and bring a friend! I hope to see many of you next Wednesday, the 15th!

Those who were unable to attend several recent RENew Northfield events will have a chance to see them on NTV (Ch. 26 for those of you able to get it): the Zero Net Energy Buildings Workshop featuring Jesse Streitz will be broadcast at 9:00 p.m. this Tuesday, the 7th, and again at 9:30 this Thursday, the 9th. Thanks to Paul Hager of NTV for broadcasting this event!

In addition, Michael Blaha has made this event available as a podcast on the RENew website. Thanks Michael!

Last week’s Northfield’s Energy Future Forum, co-sponsored by RENew Northfield and the Northfield League of Women Voters, is already available as a podcast thanks to the excellent work of Michael Blaha, and will soon be on NTV as well.
